Bagopedia's Comment: A Little Treat For this Spring
Hello again. Still the same thing- long time no see!
Maybe because it is May now that inspires me to write. Bagopedia has been thinking about how to make this blog more personal. I have visited a lot of other bags' blogs. I have found that either blog owners talk a lot about themselves (food, travel...) or make negative comments on bad designs.
It is easy to find a bag with bad design and attack it. However, Bagopedia decides to only focus on bags and only post bags that I will/would add to my own collection.
I haven't been inspired by handbag designs for a few seasons. This FENDI bag catches my eyes for two things: the size and the design.
The size of this bag is perfect- not too big or not too small. It has a zipper closure (I think I probably close as when you use handles, the bag is kind of closed itself). The bag is about 30 CM which is on the trend to smaller sizes.
The bag has almost no details which will last. If you are looking for a high-end bag to start your collection, this one is not to miss! The only details are the unique design handles that can disappear (not removable), a tiny logo, and the clochette. The bag comes with a removable shoulder strap. You can carry this bag as a day bag, a clutch, or an evening bag.
The bag has a really nice FENDI leather outside. As a high-end brand, $1,700 is a reasonable price tag.
As 7.5" shoulder bags are really popular this fall/winter, Bagopedia is thinking of getting one. It is totally against what I am used to- a 40 CM Birkin carrying all. I do really like an idea of not taking my 40 CM to the dinner parties after work.
I like to have a smaller bag for lunch. I think a long wallet or a clutch will do it without spending more money. It is not so easy for the dinner which requires more a evening bag.
There are a few 7.5" shoulder bags that I like:
This 7.5" Versus reminds me of Elizabeth Hurley's Versace pin dress in 1994. It became one of the most famous dress even Lady Gaga worn it in 2012.
The bag is retailed for $650.00 CAD. I think it is reasonable as a totally leather bag.
I also like this Kenzo as Kenzo is really hot lately. Since it launched the Tiger collection since last year, the Tiger prints become really hot.
This Kenzo bag is retailed for $670.00 CAD. Also not a bad price tag.
The last one is the Proenza Schouler PS 11 Iridescent shoulder bag. As Bagopedia said last time, the Beetle or Iridescent bags are the must this season. This bag also can't go wrong with anything.
The price tag is higher as PS series is a higher end line. It is $2,175.00.
All bags you can find at SSense.com where is why I stay at home shopping lately.
Yes, another 3 months have passed from my last entry. Bagopedia is surprised that people still visit this blog. Today I will share some of my recent purchases and thoughts about the bags this fall/winter:
LANVIN $590.00, Net-A-Porter
I saw this LANVIN pouch this morning on NAP and I purchased it immediately. I love the beetles! You can't really describe the colors. The beetle colors are big this fall/winter. Tory Burch is all over it. This season many big brand have something in beetle colors.
Bottega Veneta did the beetle collection for fall 2010. I loved the tote but it was so limited. I didn't get one.
I bought this BVLGARI bag. It is elegant and classic. I was offered one in green so I took it. The bag is still now on pre-ordred stage. I love this green. The bag looks like a large emerald. It is really beautiful! I also chose the biggest bag because I don't want to spend so much money for a bag that can only be carried in the evenings. Even the largest bag is only 30 CM.
GUCCI Bamboo Shopper, $1,890-$2,290, GUCCI.com
The third bag I have purchased this season is this GUCCI shopper. I liked the black but I chose this red instead. I don't have any bags in red and this is a red I really like. I love the bamboo details. The tote has a lot of compartments and pockets inside. It is a well-organized tote.
Bagopedia hopes that this entry can help for choosing a fall winter bag. Happy shopping!
Marc by Marc Jacobs Leather-Trimded PVC and Leather Shoulder Bag Price: 300.00 Where to Buy: Net-A-Porter, Bagopedia's Rating: 4 Bags (Out of 5) Bagopedia's Comment: To Bagopedia, there are bags for traditional purposes and bags for trendy uses. I do spend good money on bags that are classic. For the trendy uses, I love some high-fashioned eye-catching bags that I don't need to spend a lot of money. This MBMJ bag is the bag I will recommend this summer. The PVC/transparent material is trendy. The lace parts give the bag a lady-like and private look. The removable shoulder strap is a must-have. The zipper pocket for i-Pad is handy. The bag is in a good size. It is not too big as a shoulder bag or too small that doesn't carry anything. The bag goes with everything- black dresses, T&J, and colorful eye-catching pieces. For $300.00, it won't kill you bank account and will give you a happy lady-like summer.
Bagopedia's Comment: Before Bagopedia posts this entry, I have checked that my last entry for this blog. It was Feb. 2013. Time flies. I've got a comment on My Birkin Blog asking if I have abandoned this blog.
I haven't forget about this blog. As I have been tracking the visits on this blog, it is still strong. Since I opened My Birkin Blog Online store, it went crazy. I was flying so much this year so I decided to take my summer slowly.
Bagopedia hasn't found any interesting bags this spring/summer. I am hoping FW 2013 to see more interesting bags. SS 2013 bags are all from the pervious designs and made a slight different elements or colors.
When I was in Tokyo, I saw people carrying this tote a lot. It isn't a North American thing but it is an Asian thing.
The first impression is good. I really like the Frank Gehry/Lego look design. It is also very recognizable.
Not just the first impression impressed me. The use for this tote is amazing. The bag looks like a magazine tote with no depth. It looks like it doesn't carry much. However, if you put a lot of stuff (like myself), the bag becomes a tote bag with deep depth. It is amazing that when the bag sits with stuff inside, the structures become bottom.
There are standard colors- black, white, and silver. There are also seasonal colors- yellow, blue, green, multi-colors.
Bagopedia bought a black to start with. It is nice for me because it can be folded completely flat inside my Birkin bag as a shopping tote.
The price isn't bad for a bag I think it will last for a few years.
Mary Katrantzou Large Leather-Printed Leather Pouch: Fashionable High-Tech Accessory
Where to Buy: Saks Fifth Avenue,
Bagopeida's Rating: 4 Bags (Out of 5)
Bagopedia's Comment: Bagopedia always found the high-tech accessories dark and not very interesting. This Mary Katranqzou pouch isn't. It has the Mary's 2013 SS trend that is like stamps. This pouch has a printed leather shell and can be used as an evening bag, travel pouch, document holder, or computer/i-pad sleeve.

GUCCI Soho Leather Disco Bag: A pastel box Price: $850.00 Where to Buy: GUCCI Boutique Who Carries It: Amber Heard, Bagopedia's Rating: 4 Bags (Out of 5) Bagopedia's Comment: The weather is extremely cold here. Bagopedia can't wait till my March Florida vacation. Before that I need some warm color therapies. One of the reasons that Bagopedia hasn't update this blog is that I haven't found a bag that is worth blogging about. This bag really does inspire me. I love how pastel they are. They are still beautiful colors but much settled. Thank you GUCCI to do that. This coming spring/summer a lot of companies still make bags and clothes in neon colors. Bagopedia is so tired of it. Some companies and customers misuse neon colors so much. They stink your eyes in the local shopping malls. I love the new GUCCI ad here: in a cold winter day this photo really inspires me to looking forward to the warmer weather. The bag is great for a vacation. It is small so you can put your passport, wallet, phone and keys inside this bag and put the bag inside the beach tote. It is easy to find the important things. Also easy to take it out for dinner when you are invited.
Yves Saint Laurent Classic Duffle 24: YSL Without Y Price: $2,150 S, $2,650 M, $3,150 L Where to Buy: Saint Laurent Stores, Who Carries It: Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Bagopedia's Comment: Hedi Slimane's first move after taking over the YSL- removed the Yves. It made the fashion industry talk for a few days. Then people realized it was just to create a controversy.
The first bag that Hedi Slimane made is this Classic Duffle originally designed for Gwyneth Paltrow.
Now Kate Moss is carrying it.
The bag won't be available until January 2013. However, you can order it. It comes with 3 sizes and many colors. If you are famous, they might let you have now.
Charlotte Olympia Holiday 2012 Clutches: The Winner the Holidays Where to Buy: All Net-A-Porter Bagopedia's Comment: There are more parties and family functions to attend in December. Bagopedia loved these small clutches and had no clue how to carry them. Now I learn that it is easy to carry them. What I do is I still carry my tote bags soI can still carry everything I need and want or gifts. When I arrive the place, I check my tote with coat check or ask the host if there is a place for me to put my totes. Then I take the tiny clutches out. There will be a phone, a tiny mirror, and a lipstick. I guess that is all I need. If I need more, I will go back to my totes digging them. And these tiny clutches gain more attention than my Birkin bags. Men who adore you can start the conversations from here.
Bagopedia's Comment: Bagopedia loved the GUCCI Zoo series when it was launched. Finally I get this chance to write about it.
The series is so adorable that even adults like me can't help loving the items. The tote bag can be used as an organizer inside your tote bag. It is small but not too bad. The width is 30 CM. If you are a tiny person and cute type, you might be able to make it.
The tote is too small for me. Bagopedia purchased the Porcupine coin purse. It makes me laugh when I took my coin purse out. Sometimes it makes the store clerk laugh too.
Wheel Your Luggage? Bagopedia is afraid, I mean really afraid of seeing people rolling luggage in the airports. When Louis Vuitton started to make these wheel things, I was like: OK, at least they looked like Louis Vuitton luggage. Then I found more and more companies are making luggage on wheel. I am like, I am sorry. I can't stand it any more! Now Even Givenchy and Alaia is making them! I know there is a huge market for this. Call me old fashion.I still think air travel is very elegant (Maybe I watch too many episodes of the TV show Pan Am). It freaks me out when I see people wearing shorts, torn sweats, tank tops, and flippers wheeling their luggage. I understand maybe in Miami International, but not JFK. There are many things to afraid of when you fly- the baby crying, the kicking, the latitude, and now the wheel. Sometimes I have to give Kim Kardashian credits for wearing a fur coat and leather pants at the Miami International in September. At least she wears something for other people's pleasure. Bagopedia had a discussion with my collies about this issue. They told me the wheel things are much more convenient and won't ruin your shoulders. Unless you have babies. You don't need so many things to fly. I get really annoyed that when I am boarded late, there was no room on cabin to locate my bag. Bagopedia's carry-on is always a 40 CM Birkin. All I need is a sleeping pill when I fly.
Bagopedia's Comment: Bagopedia is surprised that how I develop my love with Celine bags. The only bag I liked was the totes. Then I wrote an article about that I wasn't crazy about the Luggage totes. I also found the Phantom bags really ugly.
Then guess what? I have them all! They don't give great impression at first sight, but look better later. I still haven't loved this Trapeze bag yet. However, as my pattern, I might end up getting it.
Maison Martin Margiela For H&M Candy Wrap Clutch: An Arm Candy Price: $60.00 Where to Buy: Selected H&M Stores, Who Carries It: Rita Ora, Bagopedia's Rating: 5 Bags (Out of 5) Bagopedia's Comment: Bagopedia has never been a fan of the luxury brand cooperates with H&M. I has never lined up for the Versace, Marni, or CDG collection. However, I did line up for the MMM collection. I got this clutch as well as the mirror leggings. I love something is just fun and not so serious. It adds glitter to my winter clothes which are all totally dark. I think it is a great deal to have this all leather clutch for just $60.00. The collection is totally sold-out. If you missed the bag, you can pay more on ebay.
